Bar Pastiche/Pix Patisserie in Portland Oregon
Kitschy and cute, Pix Patisserie’s original establishment is known for its bright yellow walls, comfy shoulder-to-shoulder seating, and oh-so smart waiting staff. Enjoy one of over 30 beers, a tasty dessert wine or Batdorf & Bronson coffee. This shop also plays host to many of Pix’s special events such as Dessert Dim Sum, Three Ring Circus, or Concoct Yo’ Own Dessert night. Opened in January 2003, this dessert boutique hosts a kitchen of talented and hardworking pastry chefs that are the co-creators of our masterpieces and single handedly make Pix Patisserie’s line of ice creams.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner Tuesday - Sunday

Eat a little or eat a lot. And when you’re done, throw your paper napkins on the floor, as you might in a true tapas spot in Madrid. Each plate is only $1-$3. The menu is written on the wall on butcher paper, as it changes daily, but typical offerings might include mini-meatball sandwiches, deviled eggs (Spanish style), ham and potato croquettes, parmeggiano flan with Spanish ham, saffron rice balls, or beet salad with orange flower water and cumin.
The place is tiny with a couple of café tables, a few seats at the small bar and one long communal table. Mind you, this is extremely casual, and rather low on ambiance, but it makes for great odd-hour meals, brunches, late lunches or after-movie dinners.
Bar Pastiche is a joint-venture between John Taboada of Navarre (another small-plate restaurant) and Cheryl Wakerhauser of Pix Pâtisserie. It makes for a fabulous foodie stop, with Pastaworks market and Powell’s Books for Cooks in adjoining space.
