Carafe, opened in August 2003, is an inspired new restaurant from the husband and wife team of Pascal Sauton and Julie Hunter.  Pascal, a Parisian native, comments:  “Portland is such a warm and inviting community, that we felt compelled to settle here and launch our dream.”  Pascal was most recently the Executive Chef of Lucere at the RiverPlace Hotel, and Julie was the Catering Manager of the Pearl District gem, In Good Taste.
Carafe, a Parisian-style bistro unique to Portland, features traditional bistro fare in a lively atmosphere.  With a varied menu, elevated by the products from the many local food artisans and a wine list with equal offerings from France and the Northwest, Carafe satisfies the many who have lived or visited Paris as well as those who just wish they had.

Located at 200 SW Market Street (across from the Keller Auditorium), Carafe offers outdoor seating and validated parking in the building’s lot.  Lunch is served Monday - Friday and dinner Monday - Saturday

Ooolala … Finally, Portland has a quintessential French bistro, and its right in the heart of downtown’s performing arts district. Owned by Chef Pascal Sauton and his wife, Julie, Carafe soothes the ache experienced by forlorn Francophiles with its authentic décor and sublime dishes such as Steak Tartare, house-made pâté, Moules-Frîtes, Skate with Capers, Coq au Vin, Onion Soup, or Steak Frîtes.
